Installing TACIT is relatively easy, but does involve a few steps and software from other website. TACIT is a Eclipse-based application and, as such, requires a Java runtime environment (JRE) in order to run.

Install JRE as mentioned in here. Make sure to install 32-bit JRE for 32-bit TACIT and 64-bit JRE for 64-bit TACIT.

Download TACIT

Download the TACIT zip file and unzip it from tacit website
To run TACIT:

For Windows : Double click the TACIT.exe file in the unzipped folder.
For MAC  : Press CTRL key and click to open the TACIT file.
For Linux  : Double click the TACIT file

For High Resolution Windows Screen

When using Tacit on a high-resolution, high DPI monitor (such as the 3200x1800 display on the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro) interface elements, please follow the following steps once you downloaded TACIT
1) Allow Windows to execute external manifests by editing the registry:

  • Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  • Locate and then click the following registry subkey:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SideBySide
  • On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  • Type PreferExternalManifest, and then press ENTER.
  • Right-click PreferExternalManifest, and then click Modify.
  • n the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, click Decimal under Base.
  • In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
  • On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor.
  • 2) Copy tacit.exe.manifest from here and move it to the same folder as the tacit.exe program
    3) Reboot your computer. Open tacit with tacit.exe and the display should be fixed.
